Late-Night Fashion Photoshoot in Berlin

Berlin is one of those cities that always gives more than expected — especially after dark. It was late, my camera battery nearly dead, and the light fading fast. But when Olga, a Ukrainian refugee now living in Berlin, showed up in her tiger print shirt, Gen Z-style jeans, and an undeniable sense of personal style, I knew we had to capture something.

Fashion has always been her passion — tailoring, styling, expressing identity through clothes. And on this late night in Berlin, we decided to make the most of the city's unique glow.

First Stop: Chen Che Teahouse – A Garden of Contrast

berlin photoshoot

Our spontaneous shoot began at the beautifully atmospheric Chen Che Teahouse. We made it just minutes before closing, slipping between staff clearing tables to shoot a few frames. The setting felt like a hidden dream: a lush garden with a koi fish pond, wooden boho furniture, and glowing red Vietnamese lanterns, all nestled in a typical post-Soviet Berlin courtyard.

Graffiti-covered walls, weathered doors, and remnants of paper ads offered a perfect urban contrast. The textures were Berlin through and through—raw and poetic. I owe a little shout-out to my Fujifilm GFX camera for pulling off images that look like 35mm film — creamy, cinematic, full of mood—despite the challenging light.

Cyberpunk Vibes – Berlin’s City Lights as Studio

From there, we roamed aimlessly — just how I like it. I started noticing pink, purple, and blue tones bouncing off cafés and window displays. With no flash or lighting gear, I let Berlin’s streetlights, passing cars, and neon signage do the work.

This part of the shoot felt like something out of a cyberpunk film: reflective surfaces, moody shadows, and Olga surrounded by electric color. Her tiger print, wide-leg pants, Diesel jeans bag, and naturally cool energy made it look like a Berlin-meets-Tokyo editorial spread — futuristic, gritty, and deeply stylish.

Final Frames: Fernsehturm, Berlin’s Iconic Tower

Our last stop was a corner Olga suggested, with a direct view of the Fernsehturm, Berlin’s iconic TV Tower. A nearby closed shop window cast just enough soft light to illuminate her face, while streetlamps and distant trams added ambient backlight.

These final shots, with Olga glowing beneath Berlin’s iconic skyline, felt like the perfect end to our spontaneous journey — proof that the best shoots sometimes happen when nothing is planned and everything just clicks.
